Arsenic

This is an important issue.Agriculture and health authorities have to give ruling without undue delay. Is there arsenic in soil and rice?Does Sri Lankan soil inherently have arsenic.Has the arsenic that is there has come from pesticides? If the level is harmful what National measures are taken.
in an article in "Lakadeepa" Professor Nalin de Silva has discovered arsenic level by super natural methods using a Buddhist lady who meditates.Arsenic level is unimportant within profound teachings of Buddha. He refers to all foreign scientists with the humiliating name "Suddda"Scientists are in search of truth. They do not call humiliating names to people (Vidya dadathi vinayang) He is playing to the gallery.I am asking whether Achan Brahmawangso,Bhikku Bodhi, Colnel Olcott,Bhikku Gnaponika were not "Suddas"In there writings Sir Isaac Newton .Einstein and Stephen Hawkins never called humiliating names to others.
All intersded scintists should cme to a consensus about methof of analysis and come to a cosensus an d make public statement.

Buddha taught us Buddhism. Nalin de Silva teaches us a better religeon called "Sinhala Buddhism". We don't follow the old buddha, whose teachings are more aligned with Suddhas. We follow "Sinhala Buddhism" and our teacher is the great Nalin. Don't belittle him. He is the greatest of all "Shasthrus".

I don't know whether you are sarcastic or serious.Your interest in the matter is aprriciated.Buddhism is ultimate truth. It is truth in abslolute terms but not relative terms. It exists in universe even if Buddha was not there. It is beyond five senses. If one believes information from five senses one lives a conditioned exitence. There is suffering conditioned existence.Practice of Buddhism is attempting to get rid of conditoned existence in this very life.If you read archieves of my blog I have written somethings about this

Prof De Silva does not attempt to teach a religion. and what he calls Sinhala Buddhism is not a religion its a culture. ignorance seems to be bliss among the readers as well as the writers of this blog.

Either way the whole arsenic scare is a very mischievous way to get his name into the general topics of discussion.

It has created unnecessary worry and concern amongst people which should have been realized before making these scientifically questionable findings.

Is he a scientist or a proponent of his own version of philosophy. Surely not both!!

Think about it.

Arsenic and its metabolites are excreted via kidney which is the primary site of bio transformation of arsenic. Kidneys of persons exposed to high levels of Arsenic have accumulated high amounts of Arsenic in their kidneys.

Arsenic is not easily detectable in hard water since Arsenic forms strong bond with Calcium. The use of Arsenic containing insecticides, herbicides and fungicides on the increase in Sri Lanka in recent years. Also the use of pesticides containing high amount of cyanide and mercury are on the increase in Sri Lanka.

In Padaviya about 5% of the population suffer from Arsenic poisoning and 40% of the death are due to Arsenic poisoning.

All agro chemicals are poisonous to animals, plants, microbes, insects and humans. Chemical pesticides leads to breeding of more pesticide resistant pests and creates pest epidemics.

Since tons of pesticides containing Arsenic,Mercury, Cyanide have been used in Sri Lanka for the last 20-25 years, in them may potentially be the cause for rapidly increasing prevalence of heart disease, diabetes and cancer in Sri Lanka, curing for which the Sri Lankan Government spends millions annually.

Drinking Arsenic contaminated water and rice caused a severe Arsenic poisoning crisis in Bangladesh where more than 70 million people are subjected to chronic arsenic poisoning caused by low quality agro chemicals which have been imported for last 30 years.
