Undue Benefit Enjoyed by Doctors.
In Sri Lanka most of the Health Administrators are doctors. Sri Lanka Medical Council, the Statutory body responsible for professional conduct of doctors consists of only doctors. The General Medical Council ,the counterpart in UK has 30 % lay people. The result is disciplinary matters professional or otherwise doctors are favoured.
We did not hear any doctor being penalised when the law students hand had to be amputated. When the Anuradhapura doctor fixed cameras in ladies toilet the non medical staff had to go on strike to get the ball rolling.

The Difference Between a Bhikku and a Sangha
The term "Sangha" means "common" or "undifferentiated."The person who has attained super mundane status irrespective of being a lay person or a priest is therefore can be described as "sangha".In super mundane status one does not recoginise "me" or "world".The Pali stanza "supatipanno bhagawatho" refers to Buddhas followers lay or priests who have attained super mundane status. The other monks in yellow robes "are mere "Bhikkus" Thus everybody in yellow robes are not "sangha" On thre other hand there can be lay people who can be referred to as "sangha"

Suggestion to Bodu Bala Sena
We are close to Wesak .We are in a power crisis. The electricity bills have been increased by 60%.The State is concerned about high cost of production of electricity. The decorations carried out during Wesak in meaningless to true Buddhist.Your members who have renounced lay life to seek liberation will certainly agree with me on this. Decorations comes under amisa pooja. Buddha never expected us to engage in amisa pooja. Buddha wanted us to seek nibbana which is niramisa (not perceived by five sense organs) When you enter priesthood you requested your mentor (uppadhyayan vahanse) reciting a Pali stanza to have mercy on me and to give that yellow robe for me to follow the path of liberation..Correct me if Iam wrong! You seem to do every thing other than what you have undertaken ?
These decorations consume lot of power. Appeal to people not to consume electricity for decorations.Request authorities to ban all State sponsored programmes like "Vesak Kalapa".Offer to organise genuine Buddhist programmes to replace these.Let niramisa replace amisa.
Bodu or Buddha means wisdom .Bala is power.Show the world power of wisdom. That is what Budda did !.Again correct me if I am wrong !

Buddhism and What Buddha Taughtl
Majority of Buddhists do not practice what Buddha taught.Buddhism is an English word like communism or nudism. Most of the Buddhists are unaware that they do not know what Buddha taught.
Buddha was neither a social reformer or moralist. He was a seeker of liberation. One does not need temples, priests, rituals or precepts to practice Buddhas doctrine. The so called Buddhists need not be the sole benefactors of the teaching.
Buddha taught a method of undergoing a mental transformation which will relieve you of psychological suffering. In fact all suffering is psychological. We have a cognitive system that consists of an eye, ear, nose, tongue body and the brain. The basic problem is our cognitive system is not efficient enough to make us aware of what really exists.Out of light spectrum the eye cannot see ultra violet and infrared portion.Only the sounds of a limited frequency is audible to the human ear.
The next problem is that every thing in universe changes at such a unimaginable speed that they virtually do not exist or else the time that they exist is immeasurable. This applies to our cognitive system and things it recognises. Neither the cognitive system nor the object it recognises last till the process of recognition is complete. Thus a series of eyes (eye is replaced by a new eye every millionth of a second) and a series of objects (object is replace million times in a second) are collected by the mind using a brain that is replaced million of times in a second.Mind freezes the things that are running.Unawareness of this speed Buddha called avidya (Ignorance)There are phenomena called seeing, hearing ,tasting .touching and smelling but nothing is seen nothing is heard nothing is tasted nothing is touched and nothing is felt.Similarly there is no one who sees,no one who hears,no one who tastes and no one who touches. Thus there is no one to fall ill no one to grow old,no one to die and no one to suffer.
When one realises this without doubt he is free of suffering and is thus liberated! To achieve this the methodology Buddha recommended was to keep on looking at your own mind thorough out.It is insight meditation. One can engage in insight meditation while working! It does not need temples, priests, rituals or precepts.People who are liberated do exist. They do not call themselves Buddhists or any other names. They do not go to Media. They do not hold public lectures. They help the spirituality inclined people even if they are not Buddhists. They sometime speak to small groups. Many liberated individuals are not priests.

The Cycle of Exploitation
At birth an obstetrician does a Caesarian section for no medical indication. The parents are charged exorbitantly. The Caesarian rate in Sri Lankan private sector is about 99%.About 1 % is born when the obstetrician is in a traffic jam or cutting up another woman.
Then the paediatrician takes over. All vaccines available on earth are given. Each visit costs around Rs 10000/=The baby is virtually tuned into a pin cushion!.Then comes the nursery teacher.Admission fee Rs 50000/= registration fee Rs 50000/= .Uniform has to be bopught from the nursery. The concert costume is prepared by the Nursery.Tickets are sold at Rs 1000=.No photographing by parents is alllowed.Teacher empolys a photgrappher and sells photographs at exorbitant prices. Then comes School admission.Admission fees , a cpuple of lakhs of Rupees. The tuition masters follow.Rs 2000/= per hour! Then the beautisions ,florists ,music bands ,hotels cost the parents about three million Rupees, when the child ultimately gets maried. In about one year it is again the obstetricians turn!

Work to Rule at General Hospital Matara
What is the message GMOA trying to convey? Are they demanding to be beyond disciplinary action? Do GMOA members reduce the number of patients when chanelling? Some of them see as much as twenty patients in an hour! They even attend on duties which are not their responsbility in private sector. Eg Attending on normal deliveries.Very soon political goons will assault GMOA members with the blessings of the poeple !
